Meet Your Driving Instructor

Hi, I’m Paul, the owner of Sunderland Driving and a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). I provide manual driving lessons in Sunderland and surrounding areas, helping learners build confidence and develop the skills to drive safely and independently.

With 17 years of driving experience, including five years as an HGV driver, I bring experience of driving different vehicles and dealing with a wide range of road situations into my lessons.

Learning to drive can feel daunting, so I aim to make lessons somewhere you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning from them. My approach is calm and patient, and I’m always happy to have a laugh along the way. I take the time to explain things clearly and work at a pace that suits you, whether you’re getting behind the wheel for the first time or building your confidence before your driving test.

Why I Became a Driving Instructor

My decision to become a driving instructor came after witnessing a serious car crash in which a driver lost his life. It was something that stayed with me and made me want to try to make a difference on the roads.

That experience shapes why I teach. Passing your driving test is an important milestone, but I also want you to understand the decisions you make behind the wheel and develop safe habits that stay with you long after your lessons finish.
